As A Personal Stylist These are My Go To Brands for Quality T-Shirts
My go to brands for good quality t-shirts that you need to know about...
As a Personal Stylist I’m always helping my clients to nail their basics as a range of hard working staples is the key to a successful wardrobe.
If your basics are covered you will never fall short of something to wear, whether that be a casual T-shirt and jeans combo, to adding layers to create more dimension to your look, or enabling you to effortlessly dress down statement pieces from your wardrobe.
Short sleeve t-shirts are my go to for layering under knitwear or wearing under waistcoats in the summer. As the weather warms up, I enjoy swapping out knitwear for relaxed long sleeve t-shirts and I love to have a range of prints, colours and textures to choose from.
I really do try not to over consume clothing and I tend to be so much better these days at only buying pieces that I know I need and that I will actually wear.
Years ago I wouldn’t have dreamt of spending more than say £10 on a T-shirt, but nowadays I would much rather buy the best quality that I can afford, so I look for good quality materials that are ideally certified or organic fabrics, as not only are they better for the environment, I find that they wash well and retain their colour & shape.
Here are some of my favourite go to brands that I have bought from or have recommended to my clients over the years. I hope this direction helps you to shop with more confidence that you are buying a T-shirt that will stand the test of time.
Olive & Frank
Olive & Frank are a go to of mine for cute graphic french style t-shirts - this Oatmeal colour is perfect for those who look better in softer shades, rather than a bright white.
Made of 100% organic cotton.
Cherry-ish The Little Things Tee
COS
COS clean cut T-shirts are a boxy fit and while they can of course be worn casually, the thick cotton elevates them so they appear smarter than the average t-shirt, making them ideal for the office. Available in long sleeve and short sleeve with a range of neutrals, stripes and the occasional pop of colour.
All Saints
All Saints have repeated this style for a few years now and the cotton is heavy weight and exceptional quality. The cropped length works well with high waisted trousers, skirts and shorts. I find this style is particularly great for petites as the length will be less cropped and fit more like a standard t-shirt length.
Kettlewell
Kettlewell Colours do such a great range of basic t-shirts. If you have had your colours analysed you can make use of the filter which labels the products to suit your season, so you can be confident that you are buying the right tone for you. This deep brown is a really great alternative to black and V necklines suit all body shapes.
Made of 97% cotton and 3% stretch.
Community Clothing
Community Clothing produce ethical & sustainable clothing, all manufactured around the uk. Their organic cotton T-shirts are only £25.50 as due to the local manufacturing they are able to keep the costs down to the consumer, without sacrificing on quality and ethical practices.
Mint Velvet
This T-shirt is such a great fit, available in ivory which is softer than true white, butter lemon - one of the dominant colours of this season, apple green and pastel pink.
Monki
I have always loved the thin and slouchy style of this Monki tee. Even though it’s a cheaper option the quality is still good for the price and mine have stood the test of time.
Arket
For those who like a super oversized look you can’t go wrong with an Arket tee, although not made of organic cotton so rather pricey for what it is. They look great with the sleeves rolled up and can be styled under loose fitting waistcoats for an extra layer.
Neon Marl
Fruity T-shirts are trending right now but in my opinion they will remain a timeless way to add a pop of colour to your look. Neon marl also offer their famous Dopamine Rainbow and their new Zodiac T-shirts which I love wearing.
100% cotton, ethically produced lightweight fabric.
Disko Kids
Disko Kids are a go to for funky music inspired t-shirts. Manufactured under Fair Wear standards, and screen printed by their local printer, Tom.
& Other Stories
I love the floaty and slightly lower length sleeve detail on these Stories T-shirts which are available every season in different colour ways.
£100% organic cotton.
Autograph
Although this isn’t pure cotton, the quality of this is really good and I find it’s much better to pay slightly more for T-shirts in M&S and Autograph never disappoint.
Ganni
For those willing to invest ethical and suitable brand Ganni offer their ultimate wardrobe staple T-shirts with a range of colours and prints to choose from.
100% organic cotton
Jigsaw
For those looking for a softer a lower neckline than a crew neck this scoop style with soft capped sleeves is always a hit with my clients. Jigsaw is known for quality and they do not disappoint with their T-shirts.
Eleven Loves
As above but with a more relaxed fit in a striking red for those who need higher a contrasting colour.
100% Greek Certified Sustainable Fibermax Cotton
The Perfect Rolled Sleeve T-shirt
Ivy
My stripe t-shirt from Ivy is next level quality, I absolutely adore it and I love the unusual 3/4 sleeve featured in this style in a true white for those who love a fresh T-shirt.
Made in Portugal using an ethical, accredited factory and certified soft organic cotton.
WAT The Brand
My off white shirt from WAT The Brand is my most worn T-shirt and it has washed and washed. I love the wide sleeves and the black ribbed collar will prevent the collar from looking worn or marked over time and the cream stripe is softer and less harsh than white.
Sugarhill Brighton
I can always rely on Sugarhill for playful and colourful designs made from quality cotton.
100% organic cotton
Albaray
Albaray uses 100% Greek Cotton which is from traceable origins with a low-carbon footprint.
I hope this helps with your shopping going forwards!
