The Monthly Style Edit - January
Welcome to the 2024 New Year edition of The Monthly Style Edit
Happy New Year!
Personally I don't like to make new year resolutions as such, but as someone who gets off on planning ahead and working on multiple lists at one time, I do always enjoy the start of a fresh year to reflect and think about new things that I would like to work towards this year, both personally and professionally.
It can be hard to avoid the ‘new year, new me’ saga that kicks in on 1st January which can, at times leave some of us feeling unworthy and putting unnecessary pressure on ourselves to make drastic changes and set unachievable goals.
I do see this time of year as an opportunity to make small changes if you notice that there has been something niggling at you for some time, such as how you present yourself through your personal style. If you have been feeling a little (or a lot) uninspired by your clothing in recent months, or even years and you’d like to make this the year to reevaluate your image and reconnect with your wardrobe, here are a few steps that you could get started with over the next few months to get the ball rolling.
Introduce more colour into your wardrobe
Declutter and reduce, working towards a capsule wardrobe of pieces that truly work for you and lift you up
Learn what suits you and makes you feel more confident, and start wearing clothes that you love
Stop wasting time and money on clothes that you don’t wear and start becoming more sustainable with your wardrobe
With the aim to lift the dreary feeling that January can often bring I will be focusing my weekly and monthly edits on embracing colour. We will be exploring how discovering which shades and tints that work for you as an individual can really enhance the way that you feel about dressing and give you a whole new level of confidence, while having lots of fun in doing so!
Here is a snippet of some of the content included in this months edit….
Wardrobe basics and trending items
Sharing my top picks from this month’s sustainable shout out
How to keep your head warm while complimenting your complexion by choosing the right coloured hat for your colour season
The style challenge of the month
The beauty feature will share my favourite under eye colour corrector (not sure about you but after all of the festive shenanigans across December I need all the help I can get to lift those dark under eye circles!)
Wardrobe Staples - Jogger Co-Ord
After a month of glitz and glam I think we are ready for our comfy’s come January, and what better way to do this than in full colour! I think there is a place for a tonal and stylish jogger co-ord in every woman’s wardrobe so you can lounge at home in style and pop out of the house without worrying about looking scruffy.
Style your joggers with an oversized puffer coat, I love the spring green with the warm brown, but do check out Colourful Standard for a whole rainbow of shades and different styles from hoodies, to 3/4 zips and layering t-shirts to match, all made from organic cotton.
This look calls for a sporty trainers so New Balance 530’s are ideal, complete the look with a tonal cross body bag in cord for added texture and a colour block scarf in pink to compliment the green.
