For me, January dressing is all about comfort and after the craziness of the festivities wearing as many metallics and sequins that I could get my hands on, it’s a time to be easy going and dress in a way that makes me feel comfortable and lifted, and for this I always turn to colour.
Colour has been known to have a physiological impact on our brain and how we wear colour can impact our mood, feelings and emotions.
Red stimulates the hormone adrenaline and can provide confidence boost and a burst of energy. Orange is a form of red therefore is an ideal colour to wear this time of year when you may be feeling sluggish or a bit overwhelmed at the prospect of a new year.
On the opposite side of the colour wheel is blue which is a calming colour and is associated with improving communication. Styling blue with another complimentary colour such as orange creates a striking and mood enhancing back to work outfit combination for January.
