Weekly Top Picks To Suit Your Style Personality - The Neutral/Relaxed/Scandi Style
This month we will be exploring style personalities and how diving deeper into the details that we are drawn to and why can work wonders for your wardrobe.
Along with Colour & Body Shape Analysis, discovering your Style Personality can play a fundamental role when embarking on a personal styling journey and are the foundations to our signature style. This information acts as building blocks of knowledge that will enable you to shop with higher levels of success and create outfits that truly reflect who you are, making everything so much easier to navigate!
We can often be so easily influenced by others looking fabulous in an outfit or a particular item of clothing, making us feel like we need it and this can lead to poorly judged purchases without consideration of if it will work for your lifestyle, or if it contains the design features that truly make you love something.
When I first connect with a new client I always ask them, amongst other things, if there are any celebrities or friends/family members style that they admire and why. Holly Willoughby’s style on This Morning regularly came up. Quite often when getting to know the client we would discover that the areas of their style that they struggled with the most are quick, easy, comfortable and stylish looks that work around either baby, toddler or school age children, combined with working from home and a relaxed office dress code - a far cry from Holly standing in a tv set in her heels and midi skirt. With the chances of Holly leaving work and remaining in the same outfit for the rest of the day being pretty slim, her outfits that we saw on TV wouldn’t work for so many of us that required more practicality in our lives.
My point is that what we wear really must work for us as individuals along with functioning and adapting across various aspects of our lives. If you have no idea what your style direction is and find yourself buying random pieces that don’t seem to gel together, understanding your style personality and why you are drawn to certain details is the best place to start.
Exploring the six style personalities…
Every new client that I work with before a wardrobe edit or shopping trip will be asked to complete a style personality questionnaire before we meet. This is a multiple choice form that asks a variety of questions around what you are drawn to when it comes to comfort, fabrics, colours and patterns, how much attention you like to draw to yourself, how you accessorise and much more.
It really gets them thinking about where they are now and which direction they can see themselves going in when it comes to dressing. It also provides me with so much key information around likes and dislikes, along with getting my ideas flowing on how I can keep within their comfort zone and how I can also nudge them outside of it!
This month I am going to focus the weekly top picks around the different style personalities and pull together looks that I feel represent each vibe. I hope that the looks will help you to get the ball rolling in thinking about your own style personality, what it might be currently and the direction that you see your style going this year. We are all constantly evolving, so you may find that if you have worked with me in the past your style may have changed since then, or in the cooler months you find yourself dressing more sharply, whereas in the summer you are much more relaxed and a little bohemian at times, or you may be a bit of a style chameleon and mix up styles depending on your mood.
Having all of this information will enable you to see an outfit on someone else, admire it and say to yourself, that’s lovely but its not for me, rather than being too easily influenced and stuck in a cycle of buying things that don’t work for you and sending back with little to no success. You can then narrow down your searches and follow people for inspiration who have a similar style personalty to you, which should help you to shop with more success and see your wardrobe in a different light with a more educated approach.
Relaxed/Neutral Style Inspiration…

Wardrobe staples and looser fitting silhouettes play a big part in the core wardrobe for neutral style personalities, often leaning into the laid back and relaxed Scandi style aesthetic. Key pieces would include over sized and unstructured jersey, looser fitting trousers and relaxed jeans with minimal print, usually favouring stripes and subtle pops of colour quite often through accessories like footwear and bags. It’s all about easy breezy and effortless style that is easily coordinated and the wearer can move in freely.
Favourite shops might be COS, Arket, H&M, Uniqlo, M&S, Toast, Beyond Nine & Hush.
The first look is based around some fluid cargo pants which feature an elasticated waist and comfortable fabric, a classic wide leg black trouser with a modern cargo detail. The oversized cotton t-shirt is such incredible quality and both pieces are what I called elevated basics, they are classics with a twist. The wool jacket is actually a fairly oversized fit so the silhouette remains easygoing and the sliders keep the outfit relaxed. Adding the pop of red with the bag is the statement piece that completes this look and is an item that will add to any outfit.

Here we have an incredible seersucker smock ‘chuck on’ dress for those days where you need ultimate comfort, coverage but with a slightly feminine touch. This look is for the ladies who prefer to not stand out too much but enjoy interesting textures in a minimal way. A khaki overshoot is a key hero piece for any relaxed wardrobe and can be thrown over anything. Swap boots for canvas trainers in spring and complete the look with a canvas tote bag.
